PCOS
What is PCOS, and how can SkinnyMD assist?
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent health condition affecting 10% of women in the age range of 16 to 49 during their childbearing years. Women with PCOS experience hormonal imbalances and metabolic issues that can impact their overall well-being and appearance. PCOS is one of the leading causes of infertility, and common symptoms include unexplained weight gain that doesn’t respond to diet or exercise, as well as hair thinning, unwanted hair growth, acne, mood swings, and more. Dr. Aliabadi, since 2014, has successfully treated PCOS patients for weight loss, leading to improved regulation of periods and increased chances of conception. By addressing the symptoms comprehensively, she aims to educate women about PCOS and empower them to lead fulfilling lives.
What is insulin resistance?
Insulin resistance is a prevalent condition in the United States. In simple terms, insulin is a hormone responsible for regulating blood sugar levels. A person with insulin resistance has impaired insulin response, which results in elevated blood sugar levels over time. This can eventually result in type 2 diabetes and obesity. High or elevated insulin levels make it difficult for the body to burn fat, promoting fat storage instead. SkinnyMD can help reduce insulin levels and improve other hormonal imbalances, thereby alleviating associated symptoms.
